DUAL-STACK NETWORK DIAGNOSTIC

IPv6 Connectivity Test

Test whether this device can reach the Internet over IPv4 and IPv6, identify your public addresses, and see which protocol your browser chooses on a dual-stack endpoint.

Tests this device and networkThe test checks IPv4-only, IPv6-only, and dual-stack endpoints from your browser. No account or API key is required.

IPv4 TestThe browser contacts an IPv4 endpoint. A successful response confirms IPv4 Internet connectivity.
IPv6 TestThe browser contacts an IPv6-only endpoint. A successful response confirms usable IPv6 connectivity and returns the public IPv6 address.
Dual-Stack PreferenceA universal endpoint supports both protocols. The returned address family shows which protocol was used for that connection.
IPv4 Preferred Is Not a FailureA network can support IPv6 while a particular dual-stack connection still chooses IPv4. The important result is whether the dedicated IPv6 test succeeds reliably.

The IPv4, IPv6 and universal address endpoints are provided by ipify. If browser security software blocks third-party scripts, an individual subtest can be reported as unavailable even when the underlying network supports that protocol.
